Nasdaq-Listed VivoPower Moves Deeper into Digital Assets
VivoPower International (VVPR) has announced a significant step in its transition into a digital asset treasury strategy. The company is set to deploy $100 million worth of XRP through Flare’s blockchain in a move to generate yield on its holdings. The initiative makes VivoPower one of the few publicly traded companies to directly utilize blockchain-based DeFi tools for treasury operations.
Utilizing Flare’s FAssets System for Yield Generation
The deployment will be carried out using Flare’s innovative FAssets system, which enables non-smart contract tokens like XRP to interact with decentralized finance applications. According to VivoPower, this will allow the company to earn yield through native protocols such as Firelight, while preserving the underlying security of its XRP assets.
“It’s no longer enough to simply hold XRP; the duty to our shareholders is to make it productive,” said CEO Kevin Chin.
VivoPower also confirmed that it will reinvest the earned income to grow its XRP treasury position, compounding the long-term benefits of the strategy.
Adoption of Ripple’s RLUSD Stablecoin
Alongside the XRP deployment, the firm will integrate Ripple’s new stablecoin RLUSD into its cash-equivalent reserves, citing the need for stability, compliance, and transactional efficiency. This marks a major institutional endorsement for the RLUSD token, introduced as a fully backed, U.S. dollar-pegged stablecoin for enterprise and retail use.
Adopting RLUSD provides the compliance and reliability needed for next-generation treasury operations, VivoPower emphasized.
Institutional Validation for Flare’s DeFi Infrastructure
For Flare, the partnership is a milestone in institutional adoption. The FAssets system offers a gateway for traditionally non-programmable assets like XRP to access yield-generating DeFi environments, expanding their utility and efficiency without compromising security.
Part of a Growing Trend Among Public Companies
VivoPower joins a growing list of publicly traded firms leveraging crypto for treasury diversification, a movement initially driven by the likes of Strategy. With this move, VivoPower signals its confidence in blockchain-based financial infrastructure and positions itself at the forefront of corporate DeFi integration.
