From Biotech to Bitcoin Treasury Strategy
Bridge Biotherapeutics, a Seongnam-based biotech firm, has announced a major shift in its corporate vision with a 25 billion won ($183.3 million) capital injection from crypto investment firm Parataxis. The company will use the funds to establish a Bitcoin treasury, marking a rare and bold move in South Korea’s corporate sector.
The company will rebrand as Parataxis Korea while remaining listed on the KOSDAQ exchange.
Inspired by Global Bitcoin Treasury Leaders
This strategy mirrors global pioneers like Strategy in the U.S. and Metaplanet in Japan, both of which have aggressively acquired Bitcoin as a reserve asset. Strategy now owns over 2.8% of all Bitcoin supply, while Tokyo-listed Metaplanet has accumulated 10,000 BTC worth over $1 billion.
Parataxis partner Andrew Kim noted that this move was influenced by growing institutional momentum:
“We believe institutional interest in BTC treasury strategies is increasing globally.”
Parataxis Eyes U.S. Listing via SPAC
As Bridge repositions toward Bitcoin, Parataxis is also preparing to list on U.S. public markets through a special purpose acquisition company (SPAC) merger with SilverBox Corp IV (SBXD). This expansion aims to bring the newly branded Parataxis Korea closer to global capital markets and digital asset leadership.
Biotech Joins Crypto Wave Among Public Firms
Bridge follows the likes of Semler Scientific and Prenetics Global—two healthcare-adjacent firms that have recently adopted Bitcoin treasury strategies to diversify their reserves and attract market interest.
With the announcement, Bridge Biotherapeutics joins the fast-growing club of public companies using BTC as a balance sheet asset, tapping into Bitcoin’s scarcity-driven upside and investor appeal.
Conclusion
The move to rename as Parataxis Korea and build a Bitcoin treasury positions Bridge Biotherapeutics as South Korea’s emerging Bitcoin proxy stock. As more institutions seek crypto exposure without directly holding BTC, such firms could see dramatic share price appreciation — as seen with their U.S. and Japanese counterparts.
