CoinShares Expands Crypto Offerings With New SEI ETP
CoinShares, one of Europe’s largest digital asset managers with over $8 billion in assets under management, has launched a zero-fee SEI exchange-traded product (ETP). This product gives institutional investors exposure to the Sei blockchain ecosystem without the usual operational and custody hurdles.
The ETP is physically backed by SEI tokens and offers a 2% annualized staking yield automatically distributed to holders.
With this move, CoinShares aims to bridge the gap between European crypto ETPs and the growing popularity of spot Bitcoin ETFs in the U.S., which have seen significantly higher adoption.
A First-Mover Under Europe’s New MiCA Regulation
This launch comes just after CoinShares became the first European crypto asset manager to be licensed under the Markets in Crypto Assets (MiCA) regulation. The MiCA framework aims to standardize crypto operations across the European Union, enhancing investor protection and institutional access.
By eliminating management fees, CoinShares lowers the entry barrier for institutions seeking compliant, yield-bearing crypto exposure.
The SEI blockchain, designed for high-speed DeFi and trading applications, is gaining recognition for its scalability and performance, making it a strong candidate for passive investment products like ETPs.
Why This Matters for European Crypto Investors
While Europe has a wide array of crypto ETPs, many have struggled to attract institutional volume compared to their U.S. counterparts. This new SEI ETP, with zero management fees and a built-in staking yield, could set a precedent for how European crypto funds evolve under MiCA.
CoinShares’ SEI ETP may open the door to more yield-generating, low-cost products across the European crypto landscape.
As traditional asset managers seek regulated paths into digital assets, innovations like this may help drive broader adoption of blockchain investments in regulated markets.
