Major Upgrade to Enhance Scalability, Security, and Node Efficiency on Ethereum Network

Ethereum’s upcoming Fusaka upgrade has successfully launched on Hoodi, the blockchain’s final testnet, marking the final step before its mainnet debut on December 3. The update is set to deliver critical improvements to scalability, data efficiency, and network security—solidifying Ethereum’s position as the world’s leading smart contract platform.

Another smooth upgrade, another key milestone on the road to Fusaka,” announced Nethermind, one of Ethereum’s core developer teams, after confirming that its validator client completed the fork without issues.

Fusaka Fork Introduces Advanced EIPs for Layer 2 Efficiency

The Fusaka update introduces several new Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) designed to optimize performance and prepare the network for parallel execution—a major step toward higher transaction throughput.

Among the key proposals is EIP-7594, known as Peer Data Availability Sampling (PeerDAS). This innovation allows validators to read smaller fragments of data from layer 2 networks instead of full data blobs, significantly enhancing node efficiency and reducing hardware strain.

Additionally, EIP-7825 and EIP-7935 focus on increasing gas limits and refining transaction handling to make Ethereum more efficient in preparation for multi-threaded smart contract processing. Experts suggest that these changes could substantially improve rollup scalability and zero-knowledge proof integration.

Part of Ethereum’s “Surge” Roadmap

The Fusaka fork will roll out in three stages—beginning with the mainnet activation, followed by EIP-based blob capacity expansion, and finally, a secondary hard fork to further increase blob data throughput.

Once complete, development attention will shift to Glamsterdam, the next major upgrade in Ethereum’s “Surge” roadmap aimed at tackling the blockchain trilemma of scalability, decentralization, and security.

Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin’s vision continues to drive these upgrades, focusing on scalability without compromising network integrity.

With Fusaka, Ethereum takes another decisive step toward achieving the balance between performance and security that has long defined its roadmap.
