Stablecoin issuer joins €70 million round to advance industrial-grade physical AI systems
Tether is extending its push into artificial intelligence with a major investment in an Italian robotics firm developing next-generation humanoid machines for industriaal applications. The company confirmed that it participated in a €70 million (about $81 million) funding round to accelerate the development and deployment of advanced physical-AI platforms.
Tether Backs Generative Bionics’ Industrial Robotics Vision
The funding round supports Generative Bionics, a spinoff of the Italian Institute of Technology specializing in humanoid robots designed for real-world manufacturing environments. According to the announcement, the capital aims to drive industrial-scale performance, expand human-centric interaction capabilities, and validate the company’s first production-ready systems.
Tether said its investment will help advaance physical AI systems, edge-computing robotics solutions and the company’s initial full-scale production facility.
The goal is to move these machines from research prototypes into deependable robotic workers suited for complex industrial tasks.
The round was led by the AI fund of CDP Venture Capital, with participation from AMD Ventures, Duferco, Eni Next and RoboIT.
Part of a Broader Multi-Sector Investment Strategy
Tether noted that its investment activity spans five categories finance power data, education and evolution with AI and robotics falling under the “evolution” pillar. The company has increased its technology-focused commitments throughout 2025, supported by what it describes as a strong balance sheet.
Recent reports suggest Tether is also evaluating a potential $1.15 billion investment in a German robotics firm focused on advanced AI systems.
The company says its goal is to support emerging technologies that expand human capabilities while reducing dependency on centralized digital platforms.
Tether highlighted additional AI initiatives, including backing in brain-computer interface research and a partnership to deploy a 20,000-GPU compute network for privacy-focused AI development.
With its latest commitment, Tether positions itself deeper in the rapidly evolving landscape of physical AI and humanoid robotics — a sector increasingly viewed as essential to the future of manufacturing, automation and global productivity.
