New regional surey shows digital assets becoming a core component of long-term wealth strategy

A new regional wealth study shows that Asia’s richest investors are preparing to deepen their involvement in digital assets, marking one of the strongest signals yet of mainstream adoption in the region. According to the APAC HNWI Report 2025 nearly six in ten high-net-worth individuals say they intend to increase their cryptocurrency allocations within the next two to five years.

The survey, which included 270 respondents with more than $1 million in investable assets across ten Asia-Pacific markets, found that 87% of participants already have exposure to crypto, with an average portfolio allocation of around 17%. A significant share nearly half hold more than 10% of their portfolios in digital assets.

Respondents overwhelmingly described crypto not as speculation but as a tool for “long-term wealth preservation and legacy planning.” Wealth managers noted that digital assets are now “firmly embedded within APAC’s private wealth ecosystem,” driven by diversification needs, succession planning and demand for institutional-grade products.

Nearly half of the portfolios hold more than 10% in crypto.

Interest remains strong across major tokens, with 80% of active investors holding blockchain protocol assets such as Bitcoin, Ether and Solana. Diversification was cited as the primary motivation by 56% of respondents.

A further 87% said they would request crypto services from their private banks if such offerings were made available through regulated partners a sign of rising expectations for mainstream financial integration.

Executives pointed to Asia’s deliberate and clearly defined regulatory frameworks as a key factor enabling institutional participation. While jurisdictions such as Singapore have tightened licensing and capital requirements, industry leaders describe the approach as rigorous oversight that enhances investor protection rather than restrictive policy. Hong Kong is viewed as moving along a similar trajectory, laying the groundwork for broader institutional engagement in digital assets.
