Iran’s parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has issued a strong warning that Iranian forces are prepared to respond as additional United States troops arrive in the Middle East. He stated that Iran’s military was “waiting for American soldiers” and warned that the country would “rain fire” on any US forces attempting to enter Iranian territory, signaling heightened tensions between the two sides.
USS Tripoli Deployment Raises Ground Operation Concerns
According to US Central Command statements on X, roughly 3,500 American sailors and marines have arrived in the region as part of a unit led by the amphibious assault ship USS Tripoli. The vessel carries significant assault and transport capabilities and is designed to support amphibious missions, troop movement, and rapid-response operations.
The deployment has fueled speculation about possible escalation. A report from the Washington Post indicated that the Pentagon is preparing for the possibility of several weeks of ground operations in Iran. However, US officials have not confirmed whether ground troops will actually be deployed inside Iranian territory.
Iran Accuses US of Mixed Signals on Negotiations
In remarks reported by Iranian state media, Ghalibaf also accused the United States of sending conflicting signals. He claimed that while American officials publicly discuss negotiations, they are privately planning potential ground attacks. The statements underscore growing mistrust and highlight the fragile diplomatic environment as military movements continue to increase across the region.
