The Ethereum developer community is gearing up for the next stage of network innovation with the Fusaka Devnet-0 launch officially scheduled for May 26, 2025, according to updates from BlockBeats. This was one of the central topics discussed during the 212th Ethereum Execution Layer Core Developers Meeting (ACDE), where the scope of the Fusaka upgrade and multiple Ethereum Improvement Proposals (EIPs) were reviewed.

Fusaka Devnet-0 Launch Marks a New Milestone

Fusaka, Ethereum’s next execution-layer upgrade, is entering its testing phase. The Devnet-0 launch will serve as an experimental environment for upcoming protocol changes and is expected to pave the way for Devnet-1 and Devnet-2, where finalized EIPs will be trialed for mainnet deployment.

“Fusaka is focused on performance, scalability, and reducing transaction volatility,” said one developer in the meeting.

Key Proposals: EIP-7825 and EIP-7918

Two confirmed proposals for Devnet-1 stood out during the discussion:

EIP-7825: Set Transaction Gas Limit to 30 Million

This EIP proposes increasing the block gas limit to 30 million to enhance transaction throughput and optimize block space utilization.

“Increasing the gas limit allows more complex transactions per block, improving application performance across DeFi and Layer 2 rollups,” explained the proposal’s lead contributor.

EIP-7918: Anchor Blob Fees to Base Fee

EIP-7918 introduces a mechanism to tie blob fee rates to the base network fee, aiming to reduce fee volatility during peak network congestion.

“This adjustment brings more predictability to fee markets, especially crucial for rollups using blob storage for data availability,” developers noted.

Both EIPs are officially confirmed for inclusion in Fusaka Devnet-1.

More Candidate EIPs Coming in Devnet-2

While Devnet-1 focuses on foundational EIPs, additional proposals are being reviewed for Devnet-2. These will address further enhancements in data availability, execution efficiency, and network coordination.

“Expect more developer-centric and scaling-oriented proposals in the next testing phase,” the ACDE team confirmed.

Final Thoughts

The Fusaka upgrade represents the next evolution in Ethereum’s long-term roadmap, following Dencun and the successful implementation of proto-danksharding.

By launching Fusaka Devnets and validating EIPs like 7825 and 7918, Ethereum developers are preparing the network for improved scalability, lower fees, and smoother UX for millions of users.

Stay tuned for the Devnet-0 launch on May 26, and watch how Fusaka reshapes Ethereum’s core capabilities.
