Move opens ETH options writing to all users as demand for advanced crypto derivatives accelerates
Binance has expanded access to ether (ETH) options trading, allowing all eligible users to sell options and generate income from market activity. The update marks a significant shift, as strategies once reserved for professional traders are now available to a broader audience amid rising interest in crypto derivatives.
The exchange has enabled users to write ETH options, meaning they can sell call or put contracts in exchange for an upfront premium. This premium can function as income generated at the time of trade, provided the seller manages the associated risks. To participate, users must post margin as collateral and complete a suitability assessment designed to ensure responsible use of leveraged products.
This expansion follows earlier steps to broaden access to bitcoin options and reflects growing demand from both retail and institutional participants for more sophisticated risk management tools.
Options allow traders to hedge exposure or express market views with defined parameters. While buyers benefit from price moves, sellers collect premiums by taking the opposite position, effectively selling insurance against volatility. Over recent years, such strategies have become more common as crypto markets mature and liquidity deepens.
To support increased activity, Binance has upgraded its options infrastructure. Enhancements include faster execution speeds, higher API capacity, and lower latency, particularly during volatile market conditions. The platform has also expanded available strike prices and improved real-time data delivery through advanced market data streams.
To encourage early adoption, Binance is offering a 20% fee discount for VIP users across several options contracts, including ETH. The combination of broader access, infrastructure upgrades, and pricing incentives underscores Binance’s effort to strengthen its position in the increasingly competitive crypto options market.
