CZ Signals Permanent Step Away From Binance
Binance co-founder Changpeng Zhao has confirmed he will not return to an active role at the binance even after receiving a presidential pardon that removed previous legal restrictions. The decision marks a definitive close to his leadership chapter at Binance, while opening space for new executives to shape the company’s future.
Zhao explained that while the pardon cleared all limitations related to his prior conviction, he has no intention of resuming duties at Binance. After seven years at the helm, he views his exit as a natural transition, despite the personal difficulty surrounding his departure in 2023. He emphasized that returning would not benefit either himself or the company noting the importance of allowing new leadership to grow independently.
Previously Zhao pleaded guilty to failing to implement adequate anti–money laundering controls, resulting in a short prison sentence and a ban from working at the exchange. That ban was later lifted following the pardon.
According to Zhao Binance has continued to expand under its current leadership. The exchange has surpassed 300 million users and recorded $34 trillion in annual trading volume, reinforcing his view that Binance does not need a “backseat driver.” Zhao remains a passive shareholder, occasionally offering public commentary rather than operational input.
Bitcoin Super Cycle Prediction for 2026
Despite recent market weakness, Zhao believes Bitcoin could enter a super cycle within the next 12 months. He suggested that increasing global regulatory acceptance led by a pro-crypto stance in the United States may disrupt Bitcoin’s traditional four-year market cycle signaling a longer-term structural shift in crypto markets.
