Network service interruption limits access to exchanges, wallets and social media
A widespread Cloudflare outage temporarily disrupted access to several major cryptocurrency websites and social media platforms on Tuesday, leaving many users unable to load front-end pages or interact with essential services. The incident stemmed from what Cloudflare described as an “internal service degradation,” affecting a broad range of platforms relying on its infrastructure for website performance and security.
Cloudflare Confirms Issue and Implements Fix
Cloudflare first reported the service disruption at 11:48 am UTC and later issued an update stating that a fix had been put in place. The company said it was continuing to monitor traffic and system logs to ensure that all services were fully stabilized.
In its update, the company noted, “We believe the incident is now resolved. We are monitoring closely to ensure all systems return to normal performance.”
Crypto Websites Hit by Front-End Downtime
The outage temporarily interrupted access to several high-traffic cryptocurrency platforms. Users reported difficulty loading the front-end interfaces of Coinbase, Blockchain.com, BitMEX, Ledger, Toncoin, Arbiscan, DefiLlama, and others. Some social media platforms—including X and Truth Social—also experienced accessibility issues during the disruption.
Access failures varied by region, with some users completely locked out while others experienced unusually long loading times or partial functionality. Several crypto exchanges, including Kraken, reported early that a solution had been deployed and confirmed that their services began returning to normal ahead of others.
Impact on the Crypto Ecosystem
The disruption underscored the significant reliance that digital asset platforms and Web3 services have on centralized web infrastructure. Because many crypto platforms use Cloudflare for routing, security and traffic optimization, any internal issue can have widespread downstream effects, even if blockchain networks themselves remain fully operational.
For users, the outage highlighted the critical role of front-end gateways that allow them to view balances, access wallets or trade assets—services that were momentarily interrupted despite blockchains running normally in the background.
As Cloudflare continues monitoring, platforms are restoring normal functionality, but the incident serves as a reminder of the vulnerabilities tied to centralized internet service providers across the global crypto ecosystem.
