Blockchain Analytics Highlights Coordinated Early Token Purchases

The launch of Edel Finance’s EDEL token has drawn attention as blockchain analytics revealed that a large portion of the supply was acquired before public trading commenced. Edel Finance is a DeFi platform focused on tokenized stocks and real-world assets (RWAs), and the early acquisition has raised questions about transparency in crypto token distribution.

30% of EDEL Supply Bought by Team-Linked Wallets

According to Bubblemaps, a cluster of roughly 160 wallets purchased 30% of the EDEL token supply, valued at about $11 million, immediately prior to launch. The wallets were reportedly funded via Binance and routed through multiple intermediary addresses, demonstrating a coordinated early acquisition strategy.

Edel Finance sniped 30% of $EDEL, then tried to hide it behind a maze of wallets and liquidity positions,” Bubblemaps stated. In cryptocurrency markets, sniping involves automated trading bots buying new tokens instantly, giving early participants a price advantage over general investors.

Token Distribution and Vesting Practices Under Scrutiny

The analysis revealed that 50% of the sniped tokens were held in primary wallets, while the remaining 50% were distributed across about 100 secondary wallets, which were visible in the token contract code. Experts note that such practices can impact market fairness and investor trust during initial trading periods.

Edel Finance Co-Founder Addresses Sniping Allegations

Edel Finance co-founder James Sherborne clarified that the token acquisition was part of a planned rollout, with 60% of the total supply locked in vesting contracts. “We actually acquired ~60% of supply and placed the tokens into a vesting contract, as per the documentation,” Sherborne said, highlighting adherence to the project’s tokenomics.

Despite this, Bubblemaps pointed out that only 12.7% of the total supply was originally allocated to the team under a 36-month vesting schedule, signaling a disconnect between planned tokenomics and on-chain activity. Analysts warn that such discrepancies can erode investor confidence in DeFi launches.

The EDEL token launch underscores the importance of transparent distribution, on-chain visibility, and clear vesting mechanisms in decentralized finance. Projects that implement fully disclosed tokenomics and controlled early access are better positioned to maintain investor trust and long-term market stability.
