Ethereum co-founder Joseph Lubin has emphasized the critical role of Ether (ETH) corporate treasuries in supporting the long-term development and adoption of the Ethereum ecosystem. In a recent interview with CNBC, Lubin highlighted that while a significant amount of Ether is currently in circulation, much of it remains underutilized — and treasury strategies could change that.

Corporate ETH Treasuries and Demand Dynamics

Lubin explained that corporate Ether treasuries are not just a financial tool but a strategic necessity. By encouraging businesses to hold ETH, the Ethereum network can better manage supply-demand dynamics, ultimately enhancing asset scarcity and value appreciation.

“It’s going to be critical to enable the supply-demand dynamics of Ether to right-size as we build more and more applications,” Lubin stated.

He noted that Ether treasuries represent a sustainable business model and play a central role in onboarding traditional financial institutions. His involvement with SharpLink Gaming, where he serves as chairman, is part of a broader initiative to introduce Ethereum to institutional markets, especially Wall Street investors.

Building Institutional Confidence in Ethereum

SharpLink aims to bridge the gap between Ethereum and traditional finance by positioning ETH as a credible treasury asset. Lubin stressed the importance of “telling the Ethereum story” in a way that resonates with institutional players — particularly those focused on profitability and asset appreciation.

“Wall Street pays attention to being able to make money,” Lubin said. “We’re able to acquire tens of millions of dollars in Ether a day.”

He believes Ethereum is finally ready to support Web3 adoption at scale, thanks to advancements in infrastructure, scalability, and regulatory clarity. “Ethereum is scalable enough, affordable enough, legal enough in the United States,” he said.

Regulatory Shifts May Accelerate ETH Adoption

Lubin also addressed the impact of regulatory headwinds, particularly under former SEC Chair Gary Gensler, whose tenure was marked by strict scrutiny of token issuances. He believes those challenges are now in the past, following Paul Atkins’ appointment as SEC Chair, and that regulatory clarity could unlock major growth for Ethereum.

Atkins has already voiced support for tokenization as a market innovation, signaling a friendlier regulatory climate that could pave the way for broader ETH adoption among corporations and institutions.

ETH Treasuries to Drive Long-Term Growth

As the crypto market matures, corporate treasuries holding Ether could become a foundational pillar for both price stability and institutional participation. Lubin’s comments come amid growing interest in crypto treasury strategies — as seen in recent moves by firms like Bit Digital and SharpLink Gaming, whose Ethereum holdings now exceed $533 million.

The combination of treasury accumulation, regulatory clarity, and institutional onboarding positions Ethereum for a new phase of mainstream adoption.
