New in-app integration allows 6.5 million users to buy major cryptocurrencies directly through the bank
GoTyme Bank, one of the Philippines’ fastest-growing digital banking platforms, has introduced cryptocurrency services for its users following a new partnership with U.S. fintech firm Alpaca. The move expands access to digital assets for millions of Filipinos as crypto adoption in the region continues to surge.
Through the bank’s mobile app, customers can now buy and store 11 supported cryptocurrencies via an automatic conversion from Philippine pesos to U.S. dollars. The list includes Bitcoin, Ether, Solana, Polkadot and several other altcoins, offering a streamlined entry point for first-time investors. GoTyme emphasized that the rollout was designed to prioritize ease of use. “Our product focuses on simplicity and reliability,” CEO Nate Clarke said, noting that the service is intended for users who want to purchase digital assets without navigating complex trading tools.
GoTyme launched in October 2022 and has rapidly grown to more than 6.5 million users, supported by a joint venture between Singapore’s Tyme Group and the Philippines’ Gokongwei Group. The app enables customers to open a bank account and debit card in minutes, a feature that now extends to quick access to crypto purchases.
The bank is also targeting broader regional expansion. Plans are underway to enter Vietnam and Indonesia as GoTyme seeks to strengthen its position in Southeast Asia’s competitive digital finance landscape. Clarke said the firm remains focused on growth rather than short-term profitability, with expectations to reach break-even around 2027.
The Philippines ranks among the top countries globally for crypto adoption, placing ninth in Chainalysis’ 2025 index. Government initiatives, including discussions around establishing a strategic Bitcoin reserve, highlight the nation’s increasing involvement in digital asset innovation.
