Strategy (MSTR), the largest publicly traded corporate holder of Bitcoin, has added another 245 BTC worth $26 million, according to a disclosure for the week ending June 22, 2025. The purchase was funded through the sale of preferred stock under its active at-the-market (ATM) equity program.
Massive Bitcoin Holdings Continue to Grow
This latest acquisition increases MSTR’s total holdings to 592,345 BTC, placing the company firmly ahead of all other corporate and institutional Bitcoin treasuries. At current market prices of approximately $101,000 per BTC, the company’s crypto portfolio is now valued at just under $60 billion.
The firm’s average purchase price now stands at $70,681, signaling a significant unrealized gain across its holdings. This aggressive accumulation strategy has defined Strategy’s market identity and positioned it as a benchmark in Bitcoin-related equities.
Funded Through Preferred Stock Offerings
The latest Bitcoin buys were made possible through capital raised from preferred stock sales, namely from the STRK and STRF share classes. This move reflects Michael Saylor’s continued strategy of leveraging traditional financial instruments to bolster digital asset holdings.
Preferred stock issuance has been a consistent funding mechanism for Strategy’s Bitcoin purchases, allowing the company to increase its crypto exposure without diluting common shareholders directly.
Market Response and Bitcoin Volatility
Despite the announcement, MSTR shares fell 2.1% in premarket trading as Bitcoin continues to face selling pressure following the U.S. airstrikes on Iranian nuclear sites over the weekend. While traditional equity markets have mostly stabilized, Bitcoin’s sensitivity to geopolitical headlines remains evident.
However, many analysts view the pullback as temporary, noting that Strategy’s consistent buying behavior is a long-term bullish signal and may help stabilize sentiment among institutional investors.
Outlook: Bitcoin as Corporate Treasury Reserve
Michael Saylor has often framed Bitcoin as a superior long-term treasury asset compared to fiat or bonds. With over half a million Bitcoin on its balance sheet, Strategy continues to lead corporate Bitcoin adoption, setting a precedent for others exploring digital reserve strategies.
As geopolitical tensions simmer and macro uncertainties persist, Strategy’s playbook reflects a high-conviction bet on Bitcoin’s future as a dominant store of value.
