Partnership aims to strengthen UK’s artificial intelligence infrastructure
Nvidia has announced a reported $683 million investment in Nscale, an AI infrastructure company spun off from UK-based crypto miner Arkon Energy. The move underscores both Nvidia’s growing role in powering artificial intelligence globally and the UK government’s ambition to position itself as a leader in next-generation technologies.
Nvidia Partners with Nscale for AI Growth
The investment will enable Nscale to expand its data centers and scale the UK’s capacity to 60,000 GPUs by 2026, according to Bloomberg. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang emphasized that this expansion is part of the company’s mission to accelerate AI adoption worldwide.
“By partnering with Nscale, we are strengthening the UK’s ability to harness AI at scale, which is vital for competitiveness in the global digital economy,” said Huang.
Nscale, which separated from Arkon Energy in May 2024, has focused on offering AI cloud services across Europe, pivoting from its crypto mining origins toward broader infrastructure development.
UK’s Push for Sovereign AI Infrastructure
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer has made artificial intelligence a national priority, unveiling in January a plan with 50 recommendations to boost AI adoption. Companies including Nscale, Vantage Data Centres, and Kyndryl previously pledged around $17 billion combined toward AI infrastructure in the UK.
Nscale CEO Josh Payne highlighted the strategic significance of the deal:
“Sovereign AI infrastructure is key to national resilience, economic growth and strategic autonomy. This milestone deepens our commitment to providing critical AI infrastructure for the next industrial revolution.”
Nvidia’s Market Momentum
Nvidia’s investment comes at a time when the California-based chipmaker has become the most valuable company in tech, surpassing $4 trillion in market capitalization in July 2025. Analysts attribute much of this growth to investor confidence in Nvidia’s leadership in AI chips, data center solutions, and cloud infrastructure.
By aligning with Nscale, Nvidia is helping transform the UK into a hub for AI infrastructure, while also signaling the strategic importance of sovereign digital capacity. The deal reflects how crypto-linked firms are evolving into broader technology players, while Nvidia cements its dominance in powering the AI-driven economy.
