The market for tokenized US Treasurys has expanded by more than $1 billion since the start of 2026, highlighting continued investor demand for blockchain based real world assets despite broader macroeconomic uncertainty.
Data from RWA.xyz shows the sector’s total market capitalization climbed from approximately $8.9 billion on Jan. 1 to over $10.8 billion in recent weeks. Tokenized US Treasurys represent government debt instruments issued onchain, allowing investors to gain exposure through blockchain networks rather than traditional settlement systems.
Industry analytics from Token Terminal indicate the sector has grown roughly fiftyfold since 2024. Momentum accelerated following the March 2024 launch of BlackRock’s USD Institutional Digital Liquidity Fund (BUIDL), which now exceeds $1.2 billion in market capitalization.

Institutional Adoption and Infrastructure Expansion
In December 2025, Depository Trust and Clearing Corporation announced plans to introduce a tokenization service beginning with US Treasurys. The clearinghouse, which processed $3.7 quadrillion in transaction volume in 2024, signaled broader ambitions to expand into tokenized ETFs and equities.
US Treasurys remain central to global finance due to their liquidity and perceived stability. Supporters argue that tokenization could modernize settlement infrastructure while creating new revenue streams for blockchain networks facilitating these digital assets.
