Telegram Rolls Out Native Crypto Wallet for US Users

Telegram has officially launched its TON Wallet in the United States, introducing a seamless crypto experience within its widely-used messaging platform. This marks a major leap in Web3 adoption, as it brings self-custodial digital asset management to over 87 million US users.

TON Wallet is the first self-custodial wallet integrated directly into a major messaging platform accessible by US residents.

Built on The Open Network (TON) blockchain and supported by the TON Foundation, the wallet enables users to send, receive, store, and manage digital assets without needing third-party apps or browser extensions.

Key Features: DeFi Access, USDT Transfers, and Off-Ramps

TON Wallet supports Toncoin (TON), USDT, and other TON-based tokens, including non-fungible tokens (NFTs). Transfers work like sending a regular Telegram message, but with one important distinction — users retain full control of their private keys through the wallet’s self-custodial design.

Additional functionality includes:

  • 0% fees on USDT purchases via Apple Pay, Google Pay, or credit cards (via MoonPay)
  • In-app DeFi access through platforms like Omniston and Ston.fi
  • Token staking via integrated partners
  • A brand-new off-ramp feature allowing crypto withdrawals to bank cards

For the first time, US users can explore DeFi, payments, and crypto gaming directly inside Telegram.

Strengthening Security and Expanding Mini App Integration

To protect users, Telegram is rolling out fraud detection tools, including:

  • Transaction emulation
  • Whitelisting and blacklisting
  • Enhanced anti-phishing protections

According to The Open Platform’s Chief Product Officer, TON Wallet will act as the primary gateway to TON’s growing Mini App ecosystem, which blends Web2 usability with Web3 functionality.

A Global Crypto Strategy With US in Focus

Telegram’s wallet is already available across Asia, Russia, and Europe, with over 100 million global activations reported in 2024. The US rollout positions the app as a frontrunner in mainstream blockchain integration.

Telegram’s deep user base and TON’s expanding infrastructure give TON Wallet a unique edge in the crypto wallet race.

With Telegram’s US user base and a fresh $28.5M funding round behind The Open Platform, TON Wallet is well-positioned to drive widespread adoption of crypto-powered messaging.
