37 Killed After Russian Drone Strike Triggers Warehouse Detonation Near Kyiv

At least 37 people died after a Russian drone strike sparked a major explosion at a warehouse near Kyiv, Ukrainian officials said Saturday, as Russia’s aerial assault on the capital region entered a third consecutive day.

Zelensky Vows Accountability For Negligence

President Volodymyr Zelensky said those responsible for allowing the warehouse explosion to occur would face consequences, calling it one of the deadliest incidents in months. He noted that regulations prohibit storing ammunition near residential areas and confirmed that criminal negligence cases have already been opened.

The strike occurred in the village of Myla, injuring dozens and forcing more than 370 residents to evacuate. Zelensky said nearby infrastructure, including homes and an elderly care facility, suffered significant damage.

Drone Attacks Continue Across Multiple Regions

Nine additional regions were targeted overnight, with Zelensky describing Kyiv as facing near constant attacks from high-speed drones. Air raid sirens sounded throughout Saturday morning for the third straight day, accompanied by continuous air defense activity across the capital.

Second Major Warehouse Explosion In Two Months

Friday’s blast mirrors a similar incident last month in the town of Vyshneve, where secondary explosions killed 10 people and damaged hundreds of homes. Ukraine’s prime minister, who visited the latest strike site, said such tragedies must not be allowed to repeat as the war enters its fifth year.

Officials say Russia has increasingly relied on ballistic missiles and jet-powered drones that are more difficult to intercept, part of what Ukrainian leaders describe as an effort to disrupt daily life across Kyiv and surrounding areas.
