Arizona’s crypto ATM protection law has helped 35 scam victims secure full refunds totaling 171,332 dollars since it took effect in September 2025, according to the state’s attorney general. The law requires kiosk operators to reimburse eligible new customers who were fraudulently induced into making transactions.
How the Refund Process Works
Under House Bill 2387, victims must report the fraudulent transaction to both the crypto ATM operator and law enforcement, including the attorney general’s office, within 30 days. They must also provide the operator with an official report confirming they were misled into the transaction. The law defines a new customer as someone who has used a particular operator for fewer than 10 days.

Spending Limits Add Protection
To reduce potential losses, the law caps daily transactions for new customers at 2,000 dollars, compared to 10,500 dollars for existing customers. This lower limit is intended to minimize damage before fraud can be detected and reported.
Attorney General Urges Quick Reporting
Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes encouraged residents who suspect they have fallen victim to crypto ATM fraud to contact her office right away, emphasizing that the 30-day reporting window is strict and necessary to qualify for reimbursement.
