According to report by reuters, Gates described his meetings with Epstein as a “huge mistake” and apologized to employees who were indirectly affected. He emphasized that the interactions involved only philanthropy-related discussions and did not involve any of Epstein’s victims.
Gates Foundation Confirms No Financial Payments
Documents released by the U.S. Department of Justice indicated multiple meetings between Gates and Epstein after Epstein’s prison term, primarily to explore philanthropic opportunities. The Gates Foundation clarified that it never made any payments to Epstein nor employed him at any time. The foundation further stated that no funding collaborations were ever established, and it regrets any staff interactions with Epstein.
Gates Clarifies Personal Matters
During the town hall, Gates reportedly addressed questions about his personal life, confirming two affairs with Russian women that Epstein later became aware of, noting that they did not involve Epstein’s victims. Gates reiterated that he “did nothing illicit” and “saw nothing illicit” during any meetings with Epstein.
The Gates Foundation, chaired by Gates, continues to be a leading global health funder, emphasizing transparency and accountability in the wake of the DOJ’s released documents.
