Bitcoin rose to $79,000 on Monday, recovering weekend losses with a roughly 3% gain, after comments from the U.S. president raised hopes of a resolution to the Iran conflict and pulled oil prices lower.

Trump Comments Move Markets
The president wrote on social media that Iran wants to reach a deal quickly, adding that oil prices would fall sharply once the military conflict ends. Despite this, U.S. equities turned negative during the session, with the S&P 500 down 0.3% amid ongoing concerns over key oil shipping routes, including the Strait of Hormuz. U.S. crude held above $100 per barrel, while Brent traded near $105.

Fed Rate Odds Jump Ahead Of Wednesday Decision
Market pricing for a 25-basis-point Federal Reserve rate hike jumped to over 92%, up sharply from under 60% a week earlier. Analysts noted that persistent high oil prices could limit the Fed’s ability to ease policy even as growth slows, adding tension to this week’s decision. With a hike largely priced in, focus has shifted to the Fed’s language about future moves rather than the decision itself.
