Traders remain divided over whether the Federal Reserve will raise interest rates this week, though analysts say bitcoin may face less risk than AI-related tech stocks regardless of the outcome.
Bitcoin Holds Steady Amid Market Uncertainty
Bitcoin traded flat just under $64,000 on Wednsday after recovering from earlier losses, even as AI-linked technology and semiconductor stocks continued to slide ahead of one of the most unpredictable Fed meetings in recent years.

Market pricing shows a 70% chance the Fed keeps rates unchanged, against a 30% chance of a surprise quarter-point hike. Analysts point to Fed Chair Kevin Warsh’s reduced forward guidance as a key reason for the unusually split outlook, with research from Block Scholes noting only two meetings since 2015 have seen wider disagreement among traders.

Bitcoin Shows Signs of Decoupling From Tech Stocks
Despite the uncertainty, bitcoin has stayed resilient through July while chip and AI-related stocks have dropped sharply. Bitcoin is up roughly 6% this month, while the S&P 500 has stayed largely flat and a group of semiconductor stocks has fallen close to 20%. Researchers say this growing gap suggests crypto may be reacting less to broader market swings than in previous periods of policy uncertainty.
Outlook Tied to Fed’s Tone
Analysts noted that shifting inflation data, oil price increases and tariff concerns have made rate expectations volatile in recent weeks. Still, sentiment around crypto has continued improving, with any dovish signal from the Fed seen as potentially extending bitcoin’s recent outperformance.
