Bitcoin Price Direction Hinges on Futures Liquidity Clusters as BTC Holds Above $64,000

Bitcoin's near term price movement is being driven largely by activity in its futures markets, with prices tending to move toward zones where leveraged positions are most heavily concentrated. As BTC works to hold above the $63,500 level, liquidation heatmap data offers clues about where the price could head next.

Resistance and Support Levels in Focus

Data shows a cluster of short positions sitting between $65,500 and $66,000, just above current prices. A move past $65,600 could trigger these liquidations and push Bitcoin toward $67,000. On the downside, support layers exist between $63,500 and $63,750, with additional liquidity pools near $63,000 and $62,500. Overall, long positions outweigh short positions by nearly two to one, suggesting much of the leverage built up over the past month remains open.

Bigger Downside Risk Further Below

A larger liquidation zone near $55,000 stands out as a significant risk if support levels around $62,500 to $63,750 fail to hold. For now, Bitcoin appears to be trading within a range between $60,000 and $67,000, a view supported by open interest and funding rate data. Even though open interest has dropped more than 3% since its recent peak, price has stayed relatively stable, and buying activity has outpaced selling over the past week.
