Bitcoin Slips From Near $84,000 as Traders Wait for US Inflation Data

Bitcoin briefly touched $84,000 early Wednesday, but the move faded within the hour and the price settled about 0.5% lower at roughly $83,200. It remains stuck in a range, with support from the 50-day moving average near $81,000 and resistance at $84,000. The 50-day average is the mean closing price over the last 50 days, and traders use it to gauge the medium term trend. Buyers defended that level on Tuesday, when bitcoin bottomed near $81,000, yet they have not pushed through $84,000 since. A daily close above that mark would be the first sign of a real breakout.

Altcoin Moves: HYPE, Solana and Ether

Most major tokens traded lower. ZEC and TRX were the only gainers, up about 1.1% each. HYPE lagged with a 2% drop to around $81, Solana fell 1.4%, and ether slipped 1% to just under $2,500, based on market data.

Nasdaq and Chip Selloff Weigh on Crypto

Bitcoin tracks the Nasdaq 100 closely in how institutions rank risk, and that caution in tech stocks is keeping it from rallying. Nasdaq 100 futures barely moved, and a chipmaker ETF pointed to more selling, even though ASML gained over 2% in Europe after saying it cannot fully meet demand for the next two years. Bank of America and Morgan Stanley report later Wednesday, while forecasts suggest the September US inflation report will show slowing underlying prices.
