Bitcoin Stalls Near $86,500 After Best Weekly Close in Eight Months as Bond Yields Climb
Bitcoin hovered around $86,000 after Wall Street opened on Monday, pulled back from a weekly close of $86,570, the strongest since late January. Price has struggled to clear the weekly open near $86,500, and the 2026 yearly open at $87,570 still sits overhead as a key psychological barrier. Moves have stayed small, with buyers showing less urgency than they did in mid-September, when bitcoin first returned to $87,000 in eight months.

US Bond Yields Near 24-Year Highs
Yields rebounded after dipping on Friday. The 30-year rose above 5.67%, just two basis points below last week’s 24-year peak, while the 10-year returned to 5.31% against a high of 5.34%. US stocks opened moderately higher, with the S&P 500 up 0.5% and the Nasdaq Composite up 0.7%, as traders bet the Fed will pause rate hikes at its Oct. 28 meeting.
Fed Minutes and Deutsche Bank Outlook
Deutsche Bank analysts say Wednesday’s September meeting minutes carry extra weight because of the bond sell-off. They will be looking at how policymakers describe the tightening cycle and discuss the neutral rate, where estimates moved higher in the latest projections.
