Bitcoin surged past $86,000 on Monday, hitting its highest level in more than seven months as falling oil prices helped lift both stocks and crypto across the board.

Bitcoin Rally Accelerates
Bitcoin gained close to 6% during the session, reaching a fresh multi month high, extending a strong upward move that had already pushed weekly closes to their best levels since spring. The rally coincided with a drop in oil prices tied to signs that diplomatic talks aimed at easing regional tensions could resume. US stock markets also climbed, with major indexes posting solid gains during the same session.

Short Sellers Continue to Get Squeezed
The rally triggered nearly $800 million in short position liquidations over 24 hours, fueling commentary that crypto markets have entered a new bull phase. Analysts pointed to bitcoin’s sharp gains over the past two months as a key signal of the shift.

Market researchers noted that sustained upside would depend on genuine buying pressure and rising open interest, rather than gains driven mainly by forced short covering, while flagging a key downside level that would invalidate the bullish structure if breached. Blockto analysts confirmed that bitcoin has broken out of a longer term downtrend that had been in place since late last year, pointing to a new potential trading range as the next milestone.
