Bitget Restores Bitcoin Withdrawals After $388M Hack as Attacker Swaps ETH on THORChain
Bitget has started reopening withdrawals following a major security breach, even as the attacker keeps moving stolen funds through THORChain.

Bitget has started reopening withdrawals following a major security breach, even as the attacker keeps moving stolen funds through THORChain.
Bitget Withdrawals Resume After Security Breach
The exchange said Bitcoin withdrawals came back on Monday after being suspended since the Sept. 24 incident. The attack hit part of Bitget’s hot and warm wallet systems, while cold wallets stayed safe, according to the company. The stolen total was later raised from $351.6 million to $387.5 million after extra transfers on Zcash and Tron were counted.
Bitget Withdrawal Schedule for ETH and USDT
CEO Gracy Chen said BTC withdrawals on the Bitcoin network and BNB Smart Chain returned first because that pipeline was the quickest to finish. Ether withdrawals are set for Tuesday on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Arbitrum, Base and Optimism. USDT follows on Wednesday across Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Solana and Tron. Other assets and peer-to-peer services are due back on Friday. Chen said the schedule applies equally to everyone, with no early access for institutions, VIP clients or staff.

Hacker Swaps ETH for Bitcoin via THORChain
Chen has urged THORChain, a decentralized cross-chain swap protocol, to refuse service to addresses tied to the attack. On-chain data showed the attacker exchanging Ether for Bitcoin, with ETH linked to the hacker moving into THORChain vaults.
Can THORChain Freeze Stolen Crypto?
THORChain responded that its network halt is an emergency security tool that affects the whole protocol, not a selective freeze of specific funds or a single swap. Crypto author Anndy Lian noted that THORChain can halt trading, stop outbound transactions or pause a connected chain, but has no built-in address blacklist, which limits its ability to block particular wallets.
