BitMEX Co-Founder Behind Majority of Reform UK’s Crypto-Linked Donations

Newly released records from the UK’s Electoral Commission reveal that BitMEX co-founder Ben Delo accounted for roughly three-quarters of Reform UK’s total donations during the second quarter of 2026. Delo made two separate contributions in April totaling several million pounds, making up the largest share of the party’s funding during that period, even as other individuals and organizations also contributed.

This is not the first time Delo has backed the party financially, having also made a substantial donation during the first quarter of the year.

Ongoing Scrutiny Over Crypto Donations to Reform UK

Party leader Nigel Farage remains under investigation after receiving significant financial contributions and gifts from other individuals connected to the crypto industry. The controversy previously led Farage to step down from his parliamentary seat earlier this year, triggering a by-election that he ultimately won by a wide margin.

The growing financial ties between crypto industry figures and UK political parties have sparked debate among lawmakers, with some considering making an existing temporary restriction on crypto-related political donations a permanent policy.

Delo’s Background With BitMEX

Delo was previously among several BitMEX co-founders who pleaded guilty to federal charges in the United States related to financial compliance violations. Although he paid a significant fine, he avoided prison time and was later granted a presidential pardon along with his BitMEX colleagues.
