Chainalysis Government Solutions has taken the U.S. government to court over a sole source contract handed to rival TRM Labs. The company filed its challenge on July 27 at the U.S. Court of Federal Claims, questioning how Immigration and Customs Enforcement chose its blockchain forensics vendor.

Federal records place the deal’s value near $94.6 million. It supplies forensic software and support for Homeland Security Task Force investigations, running from July 1, 2026, through June 30, 2027.
Sealed Complaint, Open Questions
The filing stays sealed to protect trade secrets, so Chainalysis’s exact objections and desired outcome remain private. The company called ICE’s decision arbitrary and unreasonable, noting it had already submitted a capability statement before the award went to TRM.
TRM Labs joined the case on July 28. Government and TRM responses are due Friday, with oral arguments set for September 2 and a ruling requested by September 10. Both firms declined further comment.
