Blockchain analytics firm Chainalysis led a global initiative called Operation Lighthouse, which identified more than 7,700 suspect accounts connected to child sexual abuse material. The investigation examined over 29,000 crypto addresses and digital identifiers tied to more than 100 platforms and distribution networks across both the surface and dark web.
International Collaboration Drives Results
The operation generated over 14,000 investigative leads across 11 crypto exchanges and payment services, identifying suspects in 125 countries, including several individuals in positions of trust such as law enforcement officers, educators, and medical professionals. The multi day effort brought together major organizations including Europol, the UK’s National Crime Agency, Binance, Coinbase, and the Internet Watch Foundation.
Part of a Broader Industry Push
This initiative builds on growing cooperation between crypto companies and child protection organizations to combat exploitation using blockchain tracing tools. Authorities expect the findings to support future arrests and prosecutions, continuing a pattern seen in past cases where blockchain analysis has helped dismantle major criminal networks and rescue victims.
