Taiwan’s Ministry of National Defense reported that 26 Chinese military aircraft were detected operating around the island within a 24 hour , marking one of the largest recent aerial activities near Taiwan. Among them were 16 fighter jets that crossed into Taiwan’s Air Defense Identification Zone (ADIZ) across northern, central, and southwestern sectors.
The aircraft were part of operations conducted by China’s People’s Liberation Army, following a period of relatively reduced activity during China’s National People’s Congress earlier in the month. Taiwanese authorities also confirmed the presence of seven Chinese naval vessels operating in nearby waters.

Taiwan Responds With Military Monitoring
In response to the increased activity, Taiwan deployed fighter jets, naval patrol ships, and ground based missile systems to monitor the movements closely. The maneuvers come as tensions in the Taiwan Strait remain elevated, with regional security concerns continuing to draw international attention.
Strategic Context in the Region
The military activity coincided with broader geopolitical developments, including increased global focus on conflicts in the Middle East. Analysts note that developments in the Taiwan Strait are closely watched because of the island’s strategic role in global technology supply chains and regional security dynamics.
