New Contract Structure

The exchange will offer both standard and micro-sized contracts, covering 250 BCH and 25 BCH for Bitcoin Cash, and 10,000 UNI and 1,000 UNI for Uniswap. These additions build on CME’s existing single-asset crypto futures suite, which already includes contracts for Bitcoin, Ether, XRP, Solana, Cardano, Chainlink, Stellar, Avalanche, and Sui.

$BCH ripped to $310 and $UNI climbed past $9.6 right after CME Group announcement

A company executive said the new contracts are designed to give market participants more regulated tools to manage price risk as digital asset markets continue maturing.

Strong Growth In Crypto Derivatives Volume

CME reported that its crypto futures and options averaged nearly 280,000 contracts in daily trading volume during the first half of 2026, representing $8.3 billion in notional value. Its broader push into altcoin futures has generated more than $1 billion in notional value so far this year, building on momentum from its 24/7 crypto futures and options launch back in June.

Ongoing Dispute Over Perpetual Futures

CME is also engaged in a legal fight with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission over perpetual futures products, arguing that recent approvals for competing platforms violate existing commodities law and threaten its retail futures business. The company’s leadership has separately raised concerns about the risks tied to high leverage perpetual futures trading.
