Weaker Trading Activity Behind the Miss

Coinbase pointed to softer trading from both retail and institutional users, a 25% quarterly drop in total crypto spot trading volume, lower volatility, and falling crypto prices as key reasons for the shortfall. The company continues expanding beyond spot trading into derivatives, prediction markets, tokenized assets, and payments. Shares fell more than 5% in after-hours trading.
