CoinDCX Limits Futures Trading as the Binance Hack Rattles India’s Top Crypto Exchange

India's biggest crypto exchange, CoinDCX, has put its futures market into reduce only mode after the security breach at Binance. The exchange blamed "recent developments" at a global liquidity provider, and a spokesperson later confirmed that provider is Binance. Traders can no longer open new positions or enlarge existing long or short bets, but they can still add or remove margin, and open orders keep filling. The limit covers futures only, and no date has been given for a return to normal.

Customer Funds and Withdrawals Are Not Affected

CoinDCX says deposits and withdrawals work as usual and that customer balances are safe. The step looks like a safety measure, since the exchange pulls a large part of its futures liquidity from big global venues, Binance among them, and its own systems were not hit. Its futures market is small next to giants like Binance and Deribit, with combined spot and futures volume of just over $1 million in the past day, according to CoinGecko.

Why the Binance Incident Spreads to Other Platforms

The case shows how trouble at one major liquidity source can quickly force connected exchanges to cut risk, even when nothing is wrong inside their own walls. Binance estimates its losses at about $6.3 billion. Its first findings point to a compromised DevOps engineer’s laptop that allowed unauthorized withdrawals, and it says it found no sign of leaked private keys.
