Cryptocurrency markets surged on Sunday after U.S. President Donald Trump confirmed an October 31 meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping at the upcoming Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit in Seoul, South Korea.
The announcement comes amid signs of easing trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies, igniting a wave of optimism across both crypto and traditional markets.
“We’re going to meet in South Korea, with President Xi and other people too,” Trump told Fox News’ Maria Bartiromo. “I think we’re going to be fine with China, but we have to have a fair deal.”

Trump, who had previously downplayed the need for such a meeting, shifted tone following weeks of escalating tariff rhetoric that triggered a steep market sell-off. His renewed diplomacy appears to have calmed global investors, reversing some of the damage from what analysts described as the worst crypto liquidation event in history, which erased nearly $20 billion in leveraged positions earlier this month.
Bitcoin leads market recovery
Following Trump’s comments, Bitcoin (BTC) rose roughly 2%, trading around $108,700, while Ether (ETH) and BNB gained about 3.5% each. Solana’s SOL led the top performers, jumping nearly 4%, according to TradingView data.
Cryptocurrencies rallied across the board on Sunday
The rebound signals a return of confidence after weeks of fear-driven volatility tied to macroeconomic uncertainty and trade concerns.
“This announcement has eased short-term pressure on risk assets, and crypto is reacting positively,” said Nina Patel, a senior market analyst at Apex Digital. “However, traders should brace for more volatility ahead of the summit.”
Sentiment improves but caution remains
The Crypto Fear and Greed Index, which dropped to a six-month low of 22 (“Extreme Fear”) last Friday, has begun to recover amid renewed optimism. Still, analysts remain cautious.
The Kobeissi Letter noted that recent market weakness was “technical rather than fundamental,” predicting that the long-term bull trend remains intact as macro tensions ease and liquidity improves.
If the Trump–Xi summit results in meaningful progress toward a trade agreement, experts believe it could spark a broader rally across both digital assets and global equities.
For now, crypto markets appear to be breathing easier — but all eyes remain on Seoul as October 31 approaches.
