Emergency Alert Hits Bitcoin Lightning Network After AI Uncovers Real Security Flaws
The team behind Core Lightning, key software that powers Bitcoin's Lightning Network, has sent out an urgent notice to node operators after a wave of AI-generated security reports turned up several real vulnerabilities in the payment system. Rather than shutting machines down completely, operators are being told to restart their software using a special offline mode that keeps it running while cutting off communication with other nodes on the network.

Small Team, Big Wave of AI Reports
According to the developers, a surge of AI-generated vulnerability reports started arriving in early August, and while many such reports typically turn out to be false alarms, several proved genuine this time. Details are being withheld for two weeks while a verified, signed patch is prepared, giving operators a head start before the technical specifics become public.
