Federal Reserve Chairman Kevin Warsh delivered a firm message on inflation during his keynote address at the Kansas City Fed’s Jackson Hole symposium, stating the central bank still has significant work ahead to meet its long-term price stability goals.
Warsh Places Responsibility On The Fed
Speaking Friday morning, Warsh said the Federal Reserve bears direct responsibility for more than five years of persistently elevated inflation. He emphasized that the central bank must be fully confident inflation is moving toward its target at an appropriate pace, warning that anything short of that means continued policy action is required.

Markets React With Caution
Following the hawkish tone of his remarks, bitcoin declined to around $78,700, while US stocks slipped modestly and bond yields edged higher. Traders quickly adjusted expectations for future policy moves, pushing the odds of a September interest rate hike up to 42% from 35% the previous day, according to CME FedWatch data.
Speech Draws Extra Attention Amid Policy Tensions
Warsh’s address carried additional weight given recent comments from the Treasury Secretary, who signaled a willingness to intervene in bond markets to help control long-term interest rates. Warsh has historically favored allowing market forces to determine rate movements, creating a notable contrast in views on how borrowing costs should be managed going forward.
