What Sparked the Dispute

The flight-tracking company had accused Kalshi of misusing its data and trademark to run markets tied to flight cancellations, going so far as to request a temporary restraining order against the platform. A corporate attorney weighing in on the situation noted that when a case gets dropped this quickly after such a request, it often signals the two sides settled things quietly behind the scenes.

Kalshi Tweaks Its Market Wording

Around the same time, Kalshi updated the language on its flight-cancellation markets. Instead of citing FlightAware directly, the platform now refers to a “Primary Source Agency” with a link back to FlightAware’s site, adding a disclaimer that there’s no endorsement or affiliation implied.

Kalshi’s Legal Troubles Continue Elsewhere

This isn’t Kalshi’s only courtroom battle. Several states have pushed back against its sports related contracts, with some blocking operations temporarily while one federal judge sided with Kalshi against a state ban. Legal experts expect more states to restrict the platform in the months ahead.
