Goldman Sachs has joined forces with Apex Group, Archax, Ownera and LRC Group to launch a new blockchain-native real estate fund, highlighting the growing interest in tokenizing real-world assets among major financial institutions.
The fund combines blockchain based issuance with traditional investment fund structures. The goal is to improve transparency, operational efficiency and future transferability of fund shares while maintaining strong governance standards and regulatory oversight.
Real estate has long been considered one of the most promising sectors for asset tokenization. However, achieving large-scale adoption has been challenging due to distribution limitations and the complexity of managing property-related investments. The new initiative aims to address those issues by using blockchain technology alongside established financial infrastructure.
GS DAP Platform Powers Tokenized Fund Shares
The fund shares are being tokenized through GS DAP, Goldman Sachs’ blockchain platform. According to the companies involved, the technology allows real estate investment units to be issued in a more efficient and streamlined manner.
LRC Group will act as the fund manager, while Archax will serve as custodian for the regulated digital securities. Archax has also been named the fund’s first distribution partner. Meanwhile, Ownera will provide the connectivity network linking participants and distribution channels.
Apex Group Handles Fund Management Services
Apex Group is providing Alternative Investment Fund Manager services through Fundrock LIS. In addition, Apex Fund Services Luxembourg will oversee fund administration and depositary services for assets that are not classified as financial instruments.
Mathew McDermott, Global Head of Digital Assets at Goldman Sachs, said the issuance of blockchain native fund units on GS DAP allows investors to gain exposure to real estate assets with greater precision while creating the potential for smoother transfers in the future.
Growing Momentum for Real-World Asset Tokenization
The launch reflects the broader trend of traditional financial firms exploring blockchain technology to modernize investment products. As tokenization gains momentum, real estate is increasingly viewed as a sector that could benefit from improved accessibility, efficiency and transparency through digital asset infrastructure.
