Houthis Renew Warning Over Saudi Airports After Deadly Riyadh Attack

Yemen’s Houthis urged airlines, travelers and airport staff on Sunday to keep away from Saudi airports according to Reuters , a day after a strike on Riyadh’s international airport left 12 dead and over 300 wounded. It was the deadliest attack of its kind in the kingdom in more than ten years. The group says Saudi airports and airspace are now a theater of operations, with Mecca and Medina excluded, and that Saudi Arabia is responsible for any failed interceptions. Riyadh’s airport remains closed while damage and safety checks continue.

Saudi Strikes and Threat of Stronger Retaliation

Saudi Arabia has stepped up its role in Yemen, striking the Houthis and backing a government counteroffensive after the group seized Red Sea coast territory last month. The Houthi foreign ministry said further Saudi action will bring a harsher response, adding that worse is yet to come. The Saudi-led coalition said a projectile also landed near Dammam’s King Fahd airport and a drone was intercepted Sunday. President Donald Trump said Washington is weighing joining Saudi strikes.

The WPC Energy Congress is proceeding about 10 km from the airport, with over 70 ministers and 300 executives confirmed. Saudi schools moved to remote learning through Thursday.
