Ark Invest projects that Bitcoin’s market capitalization could reach $16 trillion by 2030, up from roughly $1.5 trillion today. The forecast implies more than a tenfold increase, supported by accelerating institutional participation across exchange-traded funds, corporate treasuries, and sovereign holdings. The expected growth equates to a compound annual rate of about 63%.

ETF Inflows and Corporate Treasury Adoption

The report highlights rising institutional ownership, noting that U.S. Bitcoin ETFs and public companies already hold about 12% of total supply, up from 9% a year earlier. Ark Invest argues that continued allocation from large investment portfolios could significantly expand demand. Even a 2.5% allocation from a global $200 trillion investment base could add roughly $5 trillion in valuation.

Bitcoin as “Digital Gold” Narrative

Ark Invest expects Bitcoin to increasingly function as a digital store of value, potentially capturing about 40% of gold’s estimated $24 trillion market. This shift alone could contribute nearly $10 trillion in additional value, reinforcing Bitcoin’s role as a macro hedge and reserve-like asset.

The firm also projects the total digital asset market could reach $28 trillion by 2030, with Bitcoin leading institutional adoption trends and driving long-term capital inflows across the sector.
