Police in Johannesburg carried out raids across seven locations, arresting 39 individuals allegedly involved in romance and investment scams targeting retirees in English speaking countries. The operation resulted in the seizure of $2.67 million and the freezing of 257 bank accounts linked to the scheme.

European Authorities Uncover Money Laundering And Investment Fraud

Italian investigators identified a suspect connected to a broader European money laundering network, with a single bank account tied to transactions totaling €845,000. Meanwhile, Romanian police dismantled an investment fraud syndicate, arresting 11 individuals and seizing assets that included cash, cryptocurrency holdings, and real estate properties.
