Iran linked cyberattacks targeting Israel have increased significantly this year, according to Yossi Karadi, Director General of Israel’s National Cyber Directorate. He said authorities recorded around 4,800 hostile cyber incidents in June 2026, compared with approximately 1,600 attacks during the same month in 2025, when Israeli military operations against Iran were underway.

Critical Infrastructure Remains a Key Target

Karadi said the attacks have targeted Israel’s critical infrastructure, government organizations, small and medium sized businesses, law firms, and accounting companies. While some hacker groups have shown advanced capabilities, he said Israel has so far prevented successful attacks on critical infrastructure.

According to Karadi, organizations with weaker cybersecurity defenses have experienced severe damage, including computer systems being wiped. He stressed that unlike military conflicts, cyber warfare does not stop with a ceasefire. Iran has consistently denied conducting hacking campaigns against other countries while reporting cyberattacks on its own networks.
