Iran Says Strait of Hormuz Stays Closed Until Its Seven Conditions Are Met
Iran will not reopen the Strait of Hormuz until seven conditions drawn from a June interim agreement with the US are satisfied, parliament speaker and chief negotiator Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf said on Sunday, according to state media. He called Iran's position clear and firm and said Washington must understand that the era of dragging out diplomacy and issuing one-sided demands is over. Iran put forward a proposal at the UN General Assembly under which normal shipping could resume within seven days if the conditions were fulfilled. The US replied last week through Qatari intermediaries.

He called Iran’s position clear and firm and said Washington must understand that the era of dragging out diplomacy and issuing one-sided demands is over. The US replied last week through Qatari intermediaries.
Tehran Denies Offering Nuclear Inspections
Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Iran has explained its broad positions in response to the US reply, with more points still to be passed on. He described American proposals as largely matching earlier stances, especially on the nuclear issue, and said Tehran’s current focus is the strait. He also denied offering UN watchdog inspections in exchange for sanctions relief, stating that no nuclear talks have begun. An official briefed on the talks said the dispute is about the order of steps, not the elements of the plan.
Warnings Over Renewed US Military Action
Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi told diplomats that Iran hopes Washington picks diplomacy, but is better prepared than before if it chooses force. An army spokesperson said Iran will extend the range of its missiles. The strait carried a fifth of the world’s oil and liquefied natural gas before the war began in late February.
