Kuwait temporarily suspended all flights on Wednesday after an Iranian missile and drone attack struck Kuwait International Airport, causing damage to airport infrastructure and disrupting air traffic operations.

Kuwait temporarily suspended all flights on Wednesday after an Iranian missile and drone attack struck Kuwait International Airport, causing damage to airport infrastructure and disrupting air traffic operations.
According to Kuwait’s General Civil Aviation Authority, the attack hit Terminal 1, which serves international airlines. Authorities said the strike caused severe damage to the facility and injured several people. Flights were immediately suspended and diverted to alternative airports as emergency teams assessed the situation.
One Person Killed and Several Injured
Kuwait’s Foreign Ministry confirmed that one person was killed in the attack, while several others sustained injuries. Officials also reported damage to vital facilities and diplomatic missions.
The incident marks a significant escalation in regional tensions as Gulf states face growing security concerns following recent military exchanges involving Iran and the United States.
Kuwait Airways Resumes Limited Operations
Despite the disruption, Kuwait Airways later announced the gradual resumption of flights from Terminal 4, which was not affected by the attack. The airline said operations were returning to normal as authorities worked to restore services.
Iran Defends Actions and Issues Warning
Iran’s Foreign Ministry accused the United States of carrying out attacks on an Iranian oil tanker in the Strait of Hormuz and a telecommunications facility on Qeshm Island. Tehran claimed Kuwait and Bahrain shared responsibility by allowing their territory and facilities to support US military operations.
Iran said it reserved the right to self defense and warned that future attacks could prompt additional responses.
Gulf States Call for Unified Response
Anwar Gargash, diplomatic adviser to the UAE president, called for a united Gulf response to repeated attacks targeting Kuwait and Bahrain. He said the security of Gulf nations is closely connected and warned that aggression against one state affects the entire region.
The latest developments have heightened concerns about stability and security across the Gulf region.
