Iren shares chart

Weaker Financial Results

Quarterly revenue declined compared to the previous quarter, and adjusted earnings dropped sharply due to rising staffing costs and heavy investment tied to building out AI infrastructure. The company also reported a substantial net loss, driven largely by a major non-cash write-down related to retiring older bitcoin mining equipment as sites are converted for AI use.

Contracted Revenue Still Ramping Up

IREN said it has secured several billion dollars in contracted annual revenue tied to its 2026 infrastructure capacity, though only a portion of that is currently generating income, with the rest expected to come online over time.

AI Revenue Overtakes Mining for First Time

Despite the near term financial strain, the results marked a notable shift: AI cloud revenue more than doubled from the prior quarter and, for the first time, surpassed revenue from bitcoin mining. AI services now make up the majority of the company’s quarterly revenue, while mining income declined as resources were redirected toward the expanding AI business.
