Israeli Forces Capture Beaufort Castle in Southern Lebanon During Operations Against Hezbollah

Israeli forces have captured the historic Beaufort Castle and the surrounding Beaufort Ridge in southern Lebanon, marking a significant development in ongoing military operations against Hezbollah. The move comes despite a ceasefire that has been in place for more than six weeks.

According to the Israeli military, the operation focused on securing the Beaufort Ridge and the Wadi al-Saluki area while targeting Hezbollah positions and infrastructure in the region. Military officials said the area had been used for attacks against northern Israel and served as a launch point for hundreds of projectiles.

Strategic Importance of Beaufort Ridge

The capture of the ridge gives Israeli forces a commanding view over parts of southern Lebanon and northern Israel. The elevated position has long been considered strategically important due to its military and geographic significance.

The operation followed one of the heaviest days of Hezbollah rocket and drone fire toward northern Israel since the April ceasefire. Israeli authorities imposed restrictions and school closures in affected areas.
