JPMorgan Chase is bringing its JPM Coin deposit token to Ethereum, Bloomberg reported . The token represents US dollar deposits held at the bank and lets eligible clients move funds within seconds, around the clock. The step gives institutional customers a new way to handle payments and settle tokenized asset transactions on a public network.
How Institutions Can Use JPM Coin
Emma Landriault, global head of Kinexys Labs, said crypto companies could use the token for blockchain payments, while financial institutions could use it to settle trades and post collateral. She said the bank picked Ethereum because of its liquidity and its existing use among clients. Even though the tokens are issued on public networks, JPM Coin stays restricted to approved institutional participants.
JPMorgan Multi-Chain Deposit Token Strategy
The Ethereum launch follows the November 2025 rollout of JPM Coin on Base, the Ethereum layer-2 network built by Coinbase. At that time, JPMorgan said it planned to support more public blockchains. In January, the bank also announced plans to bring the token natively to the Canton Network, showing a steady push to place its deposit token across several chains.
