South Korean crypto exchange Korbit will reportedly be renamed Digital X after completing its transition into Mirae Asset Group. The rebrand was announced internally by Mirae Asset founder and global strategy officer Park Hyeon joo, who described the new name as central to the company’s “Mirae Asset 3.0” strategy aimed at merging digital assets with traditional finance.

Expansion Plans Include Tokenization and Stablecoins

Under the new direction, the exchange plans to expand into real-world asset tokenization, security token offerings, stablecoins and traditional financial products. Park said the platform would prioritize strengthening anti-money laundering controls, customer verification, information security and fraud detection as South Korea continues developing its regulatory framework for crypto and tokenized securities.

Acquisition Now Complete

Mirae Asset finalized its acquisition of a 97% stake in Korbit on Thursday. The exchange confirmed that its existing services would continue operating without disruption following the ownership change.

The rebrand signals a broader push by major South Korean financial institutions to integrate digital assets into mainstream finance as the country moves toward clearer crypto regulations.
